Our Glendale dental office can provide you with a comprehensive array of preventive care services, including :
- Cleanings
- Check-ups
- Digital x-rays
- Oral cancer screenings
- Fluoride treatments and products
Cleanings
Our team at AZ Cosmetic & Family Dentistry has made an art of dental cleaning. Even with good oral hygiene habits at home, regular professional care is still required.
Your smile has many hard-to-reach areas, including the teeth toward the back of your mouth and tight spaces between crowded teeth. Your teeth often have ridges, grooves, and other nooks and crannies that are difficult to reach with a toothbrush or dental floss. These elusive spots tend to accumulate plaque, which will eventually harden into tartar. When tartar builds up on your teeth, in the spaces between them, and beneath the gum line, it can lead to the development of cavities and gum disease.
Our skilled hygienists use the most advanced technology available to remove plaque and tartar and polish your teeth to perfection. During your cleaning visit, you will also have the opportunity to talk with us one-on-one about any questions you may have regarding your dental routine. We are happy to recommend techniques and products that will help you improve your oral hygiene habits at home.
Check-Ups
Dental care plays a critical role in your overall health. To protect your well-being and your smile, we will examine your teeth after your cleaning for any signs of tooth decay, gum disease, or other issues.
With consistent cleanings and check-ups, we will be able to catch any small issues before they develop into major ones. If we do happen to discover a dental health issue, we’ll discuss it with you thoroughly so that you understand the concern and your treatment options.
Digital X-Rays
We use advanced digital x-ray technology to identify any structural or behind-the-scenes damage that may be occurring in your mouth. These images reveal issues that may not be apparent through a visual exam, such as decay between teeth or beneath a filling, damage occurring beneath the gum line, and infections inside your teeth.
Digital x-rays have a number of advantages over traditional film x-rays:
- The entire process is faster since there is no film to develop.
- We are able to zoom in and analyze the image easily, allowing for better diagnostics and patient education.
- Digital x-rays emit up to 90% less radiation than traditional x-rays.
- We can view your x-rays chairside from a conventional computer monitor.
- Digital x-rays are easily added to your electronic patient file for faster reference during future appointments.
- Because no film or chemicals are needed to process digital x-rays and no storage space is required, digital x-rays are better for our environment.
Oral Cancer Screenings
You are probably diligent about screening for many common types of cancer through regular mammograms, colonoscopies, and other tests. Checking for oral cancer regularly is just as important, and early identification can help increase the effectiveness of treatment.
Oral cancer can develop anywhere in the soft tissues of your mouth, including your tongue, cheeks, gums, and lips. We’re committed to protecting your whole health and can provide you with regular oral cancer screenings.
During a screening, we will visually inspect and feel the tissue of your mouth to detect any signs of cancer or pre-cancer. We also use a VELscope (Visually Enhanced Lesions Scope), a device that further enhances our ability to detect cancer in its earliest stages.
We provide oral cancer screenings as an additional service that you can schedule in conjunction with your regular exam or at any time. Learn more about oral cancer screenings here.
Fluoride Treatments and Products
Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that bonds easily with your tooth enamel, strengthening your teeth. Professional fluoride treatments are an important preventive measure against tooth decay. We can also assess your habits to make sure you are getting an adequate amount of fluoride outside the office and recommend additional products when necessary.
We look forward to providing you and your family with comprehensive, preventive care to keep your smiles healthy and clean! Even if it’s been a while since your last cleaning and check-up, give us a call today to schedule your next appointment.
